March 8: Happy International Women’s Day
Today, I celebrated March 8 racing at the helm. I’m fortunate to have the freedom to shape my own path, balancing family, work, and passions—a privilege for few, but a right that should belong to all women.
This day originates from the struggles for women’s rights in the early 1900s. From the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire in 1911, to the women workers’ protests in St. Petersburg in 1917—which contributed to the fall of the Tsarist regime—up to the United Nations’ official recognition in 1977, March 8 stands as a symbol of achievements and ongoing battles.
We are still far from gender equality, but laws alone won’t solve society’s inequalities. Real change comes from culture, education, and the daily recognition of women’s worth.
To all women: chart your own course and never stop sailing toward your dreams. ⛵
